In Doing The Pommel Horse
Pommel horse is popular equipment for gymnastics. This is a leather-wrapped apparatus which has two pommels or handles of 40cm to 45cm apart
from each other placed in its center. The routine done in this equipment needs good body muscle coordination, strong arms, shoulders and legs as
it involves continuous swinging and circular motions with the torso and legs. Gymnasts do their routine as they move from one end of the horse to
the other using only his hands.
So how do you exactly do the pommel horse?
Pommel horse requires tremendous amount of upper body strength, this is achievable through years of exercise and training to be able to use
the equipment and the technique effectively. Gymnasts set their legs straight and their toes pointed as they do their routine in the apparatus.
They have to move their body continuously within their routine, thus it really requires a good endurance and strength as they carry the load of
their body with their arms.
In making your routine, make sure it contains all the required elements and will exhibit your skills by utilizing all the three parts of the
pommel horse. The legs must complete circular motions and swings together and your routine should have al least three scissors with uncompelled
connection between. For an effective workout, you need to execute one B element, three hand placements and a dismount of at C value.
In gymnastics, working with the team can be very helpful. Gymnastics events are usually divided into four categories. Usual competition begins
with a qualifying round by the final team of six gymnasts. Team of the qualifying round will choose a gymnast from their team to compete for the
all-around final round.
Perfect practice make perfect. Perfect your routines as you workout in your gym. This sport is scored based on how the athletes perform the
required elements and how good he or she is in every category. A small mistake in the middle of the routine can cause deductions that can be
crucial in tight competitions. With dedicated practice, you can easily add more complicated and much more difficult elements to your routine,
this can help increase your starting score.
